Nice and steady. Works like new. Get the installation tool (or a one inch pipe) and the replacement BEARING KIT! I did not use any type of grease for the bearing, but that may collect dust. I am 62, so I think that the Criterion chair will last long enough for me not to worry about it. Just a side note; Steelcase customer service could not help me, and requested “this and that” plus the date of the chair, etc. Don’t worry, “Just trust Crandle!”

Purchased the replacement gas cylinder for my Steelcase Criterion chair from Steelcase Chair Parts.com. Received the cylinder in good time via UPS, and well packaged. You DO receive all the washers, lock washers, and bearing needed to complete the replacement so there really is no need to purchase an extra bearing kit. I would suggest going to the Crandall Office Furniture site on the Web and in their resource section, view the clip they did on the replacement for a gas cylinder on a Steelcase Criterion chair. It is very well done, and helps to make your project go very smooth.
